My #GetInvolved Experience - Brenna Rande '21

When I began school at MacMurray two years ago, I wasn’t expecting to get very involved on campus or to take on various different roles. The first group I joined was the volleyball team (the best team on campus!). My teammates became my family, and we always support each other no matter what! But that’s just where it started…

Cut to my sophomore year when I decided I wanted to put myself out there more. I eventually became a Resident Assistant in Jane Hall, and because of that job I got to work very closely with the Student Life staff.  Being a part of Student Life has been one of the best experiences I’ve had on campus. The staff has become another branch of my family, and I’ve made more friends because of it. I was even given the opportunity to travel to Los Angeles to experience the NASPA conference which is held every year for student affairs administrators in higher education. With my fellow Student Life staff members, I attended the conference and was able to bring ideas back to Mac to share with everyone on ways to improve every student’s college experience.

Now, onto this next year where I’ll be a junior at Mac. It’s this year that will be my busiest year yet because I’m going to be even more involved around campus than I was before. I’ll be taking on the positions of vice president of the Campus Activities Board, secretary for the MacMurray Student Association, and the president of Council for Exceptional Children, all while still playing volleyball and being an RA.

This is one of the many things I love about Mac. You’re able to get involved with so many different aspects of campus and being involved really makes you feel like you’re part of the #MacFam. Coming to Mac was one of the best decisions I’ve made. Mac has opened the door to so many different experiences where I can #getinvolved!
